Recent writing

Since I've had a hard time getting around to posting here lately, I thought I would share a couple of my recent columns for the local publication I write for. Promise to be back with more original blogging stuff soon.

You know I love the way you write, so thanks for sharing these.

We have to keep a land line (with one still sporting a cord, since a cordless is useless to report a power outage) as there are more places in our home without a signal than with one. (texting can be done anywhere thanks to wifi) Don't get me started on the robo calls, though!

You'll find one of your fiction selections reviewed next month for my bookclub. I'll say nothing more about it until then. (I know there are mixed opinions from those who've already read it) As for Metaxas... I have several of his sitting on my shelf, waiting to be tackled.

Both great posts. I bet it is hard to keep up with those posts AND your personal site here. I find it hard with just one to worry about! :) I feel the same about phones for actually calling anymore, and the only time I use one for calling is when I'm forced just for that reason.
A good book list. I will have to peruse some of those titles.

I keep a landline for one reason. All those calls that you complain about getting on your landline now, will eventually be coming through your cellphone and because it goes everywhere with us, it means that now you will be being disturbed everywhere by them. By keeping my cellphone number "sanitized", I still know that when it rings, it is someone I probably want to talk too.

P.S. My brother after five years without a landline got a new cellphone number and a dummy number via google that sends him a email translation for just the very reason I mentioned above.

I forgot to mention, I wish McCain had followed his gut. I think he would have won had he done so.

You might be right, Ed, about McCain. Palin was a disaster for so many reasons and I have to wonder if some independents and Dems might have voted for a McCain-Lieberman ticket. We’ll never know.

Good columns. I hope you write a review of the Luther bio—I’ve been looking for a good one. I’ve just finished Jon Meachan’s “The Soul of America.” I highly recommend it. And yeah, we ditched the landline, too.

Thanks Sage. I’ll not be writing a full fledged review of the Luther book but I do highly recommend it. Mataxas is a masterful writer and as I said, there are some surprises here, or at least there were for me. Think you would be pleased. I’m borrowing Meacham’s latest from a friend and looking forward to it.
