You've had some might funny tales about putting up (and keeping up) your tree in the past.
For years, we always decorated the weekend after Thanksgiving and took things down Christmas afternoon. (you're probably thinking "horrors"!) This year I've done nothing more than put my traditional snowman decoration on the front door. It's going to be an odd year celebrating-wise and I'm not sure how much more will get done, if anything at all.
Looking forward to hearing what country you'll celebrate with your themed dinner this year!
I heartily endorse your decorating or lack thereof - whatever you're happy with. My next column is part 2 of putting up the tree, etc. I'll post it in a few days.
It's funny. Here in Pensacola, Florida, Thanksgiving was changeover day. Immediately afterward we were suddenly awash in Christmas lights and decorations. I drove around (which I do a lot as a taxi driver) wondering, "How did they do this so quickly?" It was as if a switch was thrown and we snapped from one holiday to another. Maybe it's me, but it seems like people were chomping at the bit (champing at the bit?) to get the Christmas season started, STAT! It's like they couldn't wait for Thanksgiving to be over with. Or am I being too cynical?
Either way, two great stories. I wish you and your family the best Christmas ever! (And a happy new year too.)
